History
The Carlson family got its start in the insurance business in 1920 when John H. Carlson worked for The Travelers Insurance Company in New York City. From there he went on to manage the New York City office of an independent agency that handled insurance primarily for the railroad industry. The agency was incorporated in 1932 in the state of New York.
By 1956 John H. Carlson, Jr. and Peter E. Carlson had joined their father in the insurance business and the Carlson family bought out the agency. At that time the name of the agency was changed to Carlson & Carlson, Incorporated. Current Agency President Peter E. Carlson, Jr. is part of the third generation of the Carlson family heading up the Agency. Executive Vice President Douglas N. Carlson, son of John H. Carlson, Jr., and Vice President Donald M. “Tripp” Freeman III, son of Phyllis Carlson Freeman, round out the management team.
Throughout our long history in the insurance business, Carlson & Carlson has developed excellent relationships with all of the insurance companies we represent. We represent many top tier insurance companies that provide the most comprehensive and competitive products in each of their areas of expertise.
